Review of Ophidious by C. Szpajdel
As successor to Ritual, Velonnic Sin came back personally to me with “Ophidious” and they didn’t disappoint me any moment. As logical continuation of their previous and highly acclaimed “Ritual” Velonnic Sin continues in the same way as before, taking their musical skills to a higher level and exploring new experimental fields in a different way, but still faithful to the path they already have traced. This album contains lots of more midpaced riffs with more old school riffs…think of Hellhammer, Celtic Frost on the mid tempo parts but also more old school drumming… Again i think a lot about Hellhammer, especially on the song “Impurity” while “Constricting The Dead” got much more aggressive feel, still old school, comparable to VACANT GRAVE or POSSESSED with some blasting drumming and that petrifyingly efficient curtain of hellish vocals… Think of low grunts and distorted screams all together sung in harmony. Now the serpent beguiled em and i went tempted by the divine Challice of Temptation…so Velonnic Sin entreated me to the deadly sin…If you like good old venomous and hateful black death metal, then Velonnic Sin is a must have!
